Who: Local and regional stakeholders in community health and agriculture such as farmers, gleanors, city planners, legal and financial consultants, health organizations, entrepreneurs, educators, elected officials and representatives from the agencies participating in the White House Rural Council's Local Foods, Local Places initiative. Your participation and knowledge of rural communities, the agriculture economy and the unique culture and vitality of the region will help make this event a success.

What: A workshop on agriculture and community livability including group work sessions to develop a Next Steps Action Plan for Mingo County and the Central Appalachian Sustainable Economies (CASE) network. The workshop and action plan will be focused primarily around, but not limited to, these goal areas:

1. Strengthen systems to process, market and distribute regionally grown products

2. Create a long term plan to improve health through a multi-sector approach

3. Develop strategies to support regional innovation for CASE network communities

Background: Williamson was among the 25 communities selected from over 300 applicants to receive assistance from the White House Rural Council's Local Foods, Local Places Initiative. A team of experts will join local stakeholders like you in a two-day workshop to develop an action plan to strengthen the regional agriculture economy; prioritize next steps; and identify roles, responsibilities, and resources to move forward.

RSVP on EventBrite or by phone at (304) 235-3400. Guests are asked to register separately for May 12th and May 13th in order to reserve a meal at each meeting. Thank you!
